Basel-Landschaft

List pursuant to Article 11 of the European Convention of 16 May 1972 on the Calculation of Time-Limits (SR 0.221.122.3), abbreviated CETS No. 076

The list is up-to-date (excluding holidays that always fall on a Sunday):

  • New Year's Day (January 1)
  • Berchtold's Day (January 2)
  • Good Friday (Easter minus 2 days)
  • Easter Monday (Easter plus 1 day)
  • Labour Day (May 1)
  • Ascension Day (Easter plus 39 days)
  • Whit Monday (Easter plus 50 days)
  • Swiss National Day (August 1)
  • Christmas Day (December 25)
  • St. Stephen's Day (December 26)

Section 46 para. 2 GOG/BL

Unusual provision regarding the running of deadlines: "Days on which the offices of the cantonal administration are closed all day are also considered public holidays within the meaning of this provision."

[SEG 17]

The consequence is that, although it is not actually a public holiday, the deadline is nevertheless extended by that day (if the end of the deadline falls on it), for example, due to such a compensation day and the resulting closure of the cantonal administration's offices.
