The list is up-to-date (excluding holidays that always fall on a Sunday):

  • New Year's Day (January 1)
  • Berchtoldstag (January 2)
  • Good Friday (Easter minus 2 days)
  • Easter Monday (Easter plus 1 day)
  • Ascension Day (Easter plus 39 days)
  • Whit Monday (Easter plus 50 days)
  • Corpus Christi (Easter plus 60 days)
  • Swiss National Day (August 1)
  • Assumption Day (August 15)
  • All Saints' Day (November 1)
  • Immaculate Conception (December 8)
  • Christmas Day (December 25)
  • St. Stephen's Day (December 26)

Section 1a RLG/LU

Holidays as listed in the CETS No. 076 list, but excluding Berchtoldstag. Additionally, municipalities may declare St. Joseph's Day and the day of the patron saint's festival designated by the church parishes as public holidays. However, see the following laws!

Section 34 para. 1 VRG/LU

The patron saint's festival and St. Joseph's Day are not taken into account when calculating deadlines; however, Berchtoldstag is (in addition to the holidays in RLG/LU)

§ 76 JusG/LU

Public holidays exactly as in the EUFrÜb directory: "Recognized public holidays within the meaning of Article 142, paragraph 3 ZPO and Article 90, paragraph 2 StPO are New Year's Day, Berchtold's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Corpus Christi, National Day, Assumption of Mary, All Saints' Day, Immaculate Conception, Christmas, and St. Stephen's Day."
